About Friends

Friends is an American television series created by David Crane and Martha Kaufman that aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004 and ended after ten seasons. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are the actors of this series who appeared in the roles of Rachel, Manika, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross respectively.

The story of that series is about six friends between the ages of 20 and 30 who live in Manhattan, New York City. This series is produced by Bright/Kaufman/Crane Productions in collaboration with Warner Brothers. The executive and main producers of this series were Kevin S. Bright, Kaufman and Crane.

Summary of the story of Friends

Rachel Green runs away from her wedding and goes in search of her childhood friend, Manika Geller, a chef living in New York. They become roommates, and Rachel joins Manika’s group of friends, all of whom are in their thirties: actor Joey Tribiani, Chandler Bing, whose first job is a clerk, and in the middle of the season, he joins an advertising company called Ideaperaz. Phoebe Buffy who is a musician and masseuse and Manika’s older brother Ross Geller who is a paleontologist who is recently divorced. To make ends meet, Rachel starts working as a waitress at Central Perk, a Manhattan cafe where the six usually hang out, and when they’re not there, the group usually hangs out at Manika and Rachel’s West Village apartment or apartment. Chandler and Joey are spending time across from their apartment.

How’s Matthew Perry doing?

This has been my most asked question at various times over the years since I was first asked. I understand why so many people asked it: they love Matthew and want him to be good. me too. But I’ve always been bombarded with this question from the press because I couldn’t say what I wanted to say, “That’s his story to tell and I’m not really allowed to tell it, no!” I wanted to go on and say, “This is very personal stuff and if you don’t hear it from a real person, I think it’s hearsay and I’m not gossiping with you about Matthew.”

Knowing that no answer could hurt more, I sometimes just said, “I think he’s doing fine.” At least it doesn’t add to the spotlight and perhaps invade her privacy as she tries to deal with the disease. But really, I wasn’t exactly sure what Matthew was like. As he will tell you in this book, he kept it a secret. And it took a while for him to feel comfortable enough to tell us that he was experiencing. During those years I didn’t really try to intervene or confront him because what I knew about addiction was that his sobriety was out of my hands. And yet, there were periods when I wondered if I was wrong not to do something more. But I realized that this disease relentlessly feeds itself and is determined to continue.

So, I just focused on Matthew, the one who could make me laugh so hard every day, and once a week I would cry so hard I couldn’t breathe. There he was, Matthew Perry, who is a smart whip…charming, sweet, sensitive, very sensible and logical. The man was still there, fighting everything he had. The same Matthew who from the very beginning could lift us all in a grueling night shoot for the opening titles inside that fountain. I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t in a fountain! “What are we, wet?” I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t wet… me! (Matthew is the reason we all laugh in that fountain during the opening credits.) After Friends, I didn’t see Matthew every day, and I couldn’t even speculate about his well-being.

This book is the first time I’ve heard what it was really like to live with and survive his addiction. Matthew has told me things, but not in this detail. He now lets us into Matthew’s brain and heart in honest and very revealing detail. And finally, there is no need for anyone to ask me or anyone else how Matthew is doing. He will inform you himself.

خلاصه داستان فرندز

ریچل گرین از عروسی‌اش فرار می‌کند و به دنبال دوست دوران کودکی‌اش، مانیکا گلر، سرآشپزی که در نیویورک زندگی می‌کند، می‌رود. آن‌ها هم‌اتاقی یکدیگر می‌شوند و ریچل به گروه دوستان مانیکا می‌پیوندد که همگی در دههٔ سوم زندگی‌شان هستند: جویی تریبیانی بازیگر، چندلر بینگ که شغل اولش کارمندیست و در اواسط فصل به عضویت شرکتی تبلیغاتی تحت‌عنوان ایده‌پرداز درمی‌آید. فیبی بوفی که موسیقی‌دان و ماساژور است و راس گلر برادر بزرگ‌تر مانیکا که دیرینه‌شناسی است که به تازگی طلاق گرفته‌است. برای تأمین مخارج زندگی‌اش، ریچل به عنوان پیش‌خدمت شروع به کار کردن در سنترال پرک می‌کند، کافه‌ای در منهتن که این شش نفر معمولاً در آن جا وقت می‌گذرانند و اگر در آنجا نباشند، معمولاً این گروه در آپارتمان مانیکا و ریچل در وست ویلج یا آپارتمان چندلر و جویی که روبه‌روی آپارتمان همان‌هاست وقت می‌گذرانند.
